President Biden met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) via virtual call on Monday night in an effort to shore up his base of support. Reports said Biden thanked them for their reliable support and pledged mutual loyalty.
“You have my back, and I will continue to stand with you,” Biden told CBC members on the call, two sources told The Washington Post.
The Post reported that multiple sources claimed that a public statement endorsing Biden was due to be released by CBC.

The caucus’ endorsement would be a crucial victory for Biden in his battle against a faction within his party that is trying to oust him from his reelection campaign.

Democratic Reps. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), Angie Craig (D-Minnesota) and Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona) have all publicly called on Biden to resign.
Rep. Frederica Wilson of Florida praised Biden for his victory during Monday’s meeting and explicitly supported Biden’s decision to remain in the race immediately after the meeting.
“President Biden’s call tonight with the Congressional Black Caucus demonstrated his unwavering commitment to our nation’s future and his commitment to this fight,” Wilson said after the meeting.
