Cowboys’ Dak Prescott downplays concerns about foot after walking boot pic emerges

Dak Prescott caused consternation among Dallas Cowboys fans last week when he was seen wearing a walking boot on his ankle just months before Week 1 of the 2024 season.

With just one season left on his contract, Prescott is sure to attract national attention no matter what he does. Prescott downplayed the boot issue, telling reporters on Tuesday that it’s just a sore ankle, not an injury.

“To be honest with you, I’m old. It’s the same ankle I broke four years ago and had a terrible operation on,” he said. Athletic“After a few hard days of training I’m a little sore and going on a fishing trip so I want to protect the pain and not make it worse.

“It’s literally no big deal at all. People are reaching out and trying to make themselves into something they’re not. I’m older. I have to look after my body. I have to be smart. If I can mitigate anything by taking precautions and wearing a boot, I will. So I’m sorry for causing all this fuss.”

Prescott is fresh off an MVP-caliber season in 2023, when he led the NFL in touchdown passes (36) and had 4,516 passing yards.

But concerns have been expressed about whether the Cowboys will re-sign Prescott to a long-term deal, which is just one of Dallas’ tasks, including contract extensions for CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons.

Prescott said extension talks have taken place and he’s optimistic something will get done, but said he will leave it all to his agent.
