A 4-month-old baby girl tragically died after being exposed to scorching heat during an outing at an Arizona lake over the Fourth of July weekend, authorities said.
The infant, identified by relatives as Tana Rae Wroblewski, was boating with her parents on Lake Havasu last Friday evening when she suddenly became ill and lost consciousness.
The girl’s family performed CPR on her until emergency personnel rushed her to Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center.
She was later pronounced dead after being transported by helicopter to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
“We are devastated and heartbroken. We are at a loss for words,” her grieving mother, Tanya Wroblewski, wrote in a heartbreaking Facebook post.
“I will never understand why you had to leave us. You were too perfect. I love you endlessly, and I will continue to search for you, angel, wherever I am.”
The coroner has yet to release an official cause of Tanna’s death, but authorities suspect heat stroke may have been the cause. News 12 report.
Temperatures in the area reached a high of 120°F last Friday, according to AccuWeather records.
Meanwhile, Tanna’s mother said in a Facebook post that explaining the baby’s sudden death to her sister had been difficult.
“She doesn’t understand why you had to leave,” Wroblewski wrote.
“These past few nights she left toys out for you and made sure all your favorite toys were in your crib before you went to sleep. We are so sad to miss you, baby girl.”
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said the girl’s death remains under investigation.
