The Republican Party’s official platform is dedicated to “America’s forgotten men and women,” said Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), who chaired the platform committee. Breitbart News Daily.
Past Republican platforms have been what she calls “big, unwieldy documents that very few people ever read.”
“We felt this bill needed to be more concise. Yes, it needed to be ambitious, but at the same time, it needed to be an action item,” Blackburn said. “If we elect Donald Trump and Republicans to the House, the Senate, state legislatures, governors, local offices, what will we do for the American people?” she said, noting that the bill received input from people across the country.
“This is a document of the American people, by the American people, for the American people, and it deals with the issues that people are talking about, Mike, why we need to close the border, why we need to stop illegal immigrants from coming into this country, why we need to deal with crime, what we’re going to do about inflation, energy, protecting girls, keeping men out of women’s sports,” Blackburn said, noting that it also deals with ending the weaponization of government and protecting our freedoms and rights.
The platform includes 20 specific pledges, with tackling illegal immigration at the top of the list, but Blackburn said these are all grassroots issues, pointing to one community in Tennessee as an example.
“I was visiting a community in Tennessee and they said, ‘Look, we have a problem. DUI arrests have more than doubled. We started doing research and found that 59 percent of them are illegally in the country. So they said, ‘If we arrest them, why don’t we deport them?'” she said, adding, “So I introduced a bill called the CLEAR Act, which would allow local law enforcement to detain anyone they arrest illegally in the country, and then ICE would come and deport them and bar them from re-entering the country.”
“And what you’ll see in our party platform are those kinds of commonsense proposals. In fact, the platform committee dedicated this platform to America’s forgotten people. And these are things that so many of us, ordinary Americans, are talking about,” Blackburn said.
“Let’s bring back common sense in government and address these issues. This is a platform written for the people. It wasn’t written by special interests or lobbyists in Washington, D.C. This is truly grassroots,” she added.

Blackburn explained that the Republican platform is an easy read, just 16 pages long, and contains 20 promises that the Republican Party will deliver on over the next few years.
The promise is:
- Close the borders and stop immigrants
- carry out the largest deportation operation in American history
- Ending inflation and making America affordable again
- Let’s make America the world’s largest energy producer, by far!
- Stop Outsourcing and Make America a Manufacturing Superpower
- Huge tax cuts for workers, no tax on tips!
- We will defend our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our fundamental freedoms, including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms.
- Prevent World War III, restore peace to Europe and the Middle East, and build a powerful iron dome missile defense shield over the entire nation. All made in America.
- End the weaponization of the government against the American people
- Stopping the spread of immigrant crime, taking down foreign drug cartels, eradicating gang violence, and putting violent criminals behind bars
- We will rebuild our cities, including Washington, DC, and make them safe, clean and beautiful again.
- Strengthen and modernize our military to make it undoubtedly the strongest and most powerful in the world.
- Maintaining the US Dollar as the world’s reserve currency
- Fight to protect Social Security and Medicare without cutting them or changing the retirement age.
- Repeal the electric vehicle mandate and reduce costly and burdensome regulations.
- Cutting federal funding to schools that push critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, and political content on children
- Remove men from women’s sports
- Kick out the Hamas extremists and make college campuses safe and patriotic again.
- Ensure election security with same-day voting, voter ID, ballots, and citizenship verification
- Uniting the nation in achieving new record levels of success
“As you say, it’s about coming together on issues from the border to terrorism to uniting our country and putting together a policy that works for the American people,” Blackburn said, noting that the plan has 10 short chapters that deal with issues like inflation and “how do we create economic prosperity, how do we close our borders, how do we build the best economy in the history of our nation, how do we restore the American Dream.”
She said the platform also addresses issues such as two-tiered justice, housing for Gen Z, protecting seniors, pro-religious freedom and pro-life, and ending “all of this left-wing gender insanity that’s going on.”
