White House now says Biden saw neurologist during January physical

The White House said Tuesday that President Biden saw neurologist Dr. Kevin Canard on January 17 as part of his annual medical exam.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had suggested to reporters at a regular press briefing on Tuesday that the January meeting was not part of Biden’s medical examination, but later confirmed that it was.

“There was no date mentioned in the question, so I assume January 17thNumber “The meeting between Dr. O’Connor and Dr. Canard was for a medical examination of the President,” Jean-Pierre said in an emailed statement.

“The president has seen Dr. Canard on three previous occasions and has undergone a medical examination each time,” she added. “The results of each examination have been made public.”

Jean-Pierre made the first statement. Associated Press She was responding to questions posed by them during a press conference on Tuesday, and the White House said she proactively reached out to the media and volunteered information.

The Jan. 17 meeting was the only time the neurologist and O’Connor, Biden’s physician, met at the White House during Cand’s eight visits there between last summer and this spring.

The White House faced a series of questions about Cannard’s visit throughout Monday and Tuesday. Jean-Pierre insisted on Monday not disclosing the doctor’s name, citing privacy and security concerns, before O’Connor released a letter Monday night outlining details about the neurologist’s visit.

His poor performance in the June 27 debate has led to routine questions about the president’s mental acuity and whether he can serve another four years in the job. During his debate with former President Trump, Biden spoke in a soft, raspy voice, appeared to lack energy and often struggled to finish sentences.

In his first post-debate interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos last week, Trump defended his health, saying he simply “had a bad night.”

“It was a horrible event. I had no signs of any serious symptoms. I was exhausted,” Biden said. “I didn’t follow my instincts in terms of preparation and it was a horrible night.”
