In an interview with NewsNation that aired on “The Hill” Wednesday, Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, said he doesn’t believe President Joe Biden would be able to serve a full second term if he is re-elected.
“I believe, as I said, he is fully capable of doing the job. If you ask me, honestly, given his health, do I think he can do the full four years, the answer is no. I really don’t think so. I don’t know. I’m not a doctor, I don’t measure that. But there are processes in place to address that. If we find that he is no longer able to do the job, there are processes in place. There is no process in place to make him a viable candidate between now and November. It’s just built in. So if you ask me that question a year from now, 18 months from now, and I can’t honestly say yes, I would encourage him to step aside. Right now, I believe he can do the job of being president. I just don’t believe he can do the job of being a candidate, which is to get our message across,” Smith said.
