Sports fans are outraged that the start of Thursday night’s ESPY Awards was delayed by President Biden’s closely watched “big boy” press conference.
While Biden was holding a press conference at the Washington Convention Center after the NATO summit to answer questions from reporters as his re-election fate hangs in the balance, the highly anticipated sports awards ceremony, which was due to air on ABC, was postponed, causing social media users to complain.
“I just tuned in to watch the ESPYs so why is Joe Biden on my screen,” one account tweeted.
“Why Biden gets selected and the ESPYS don’t,” lamented another.
“Should Biden have waited until tomorrow for his press conference?” one user wondered.
“If you delay [my] Just because we can watch the #ESPYs live with Serena Williams hosting doesn’t mean we’re getting the black vote.”
“Biden is losing all the sports fan votes, what a shame,” wrote another angry fan.

“How long is Biden going to keep this up,” complained another.
“The ESPYS are starting!”
The ESPYs took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and were scheduled to begin at 8pm ET.
