On the premiere episode of “BlazeNews Tonight,” co-host Jill Savage and BlazeNews Editor-in-Chief Matthew Peterson spoke with Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts. Project 2025 And the left has grossly misinterpreted this as a tiresome attempt to scare Americans into not voting Republican.
As questions continue to swirl about Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities and his overall ability to perform his job, Democrats appear to be trying to distract voters from the turmoil in their own chamber by frequently pointing to The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 as a threat to democracy. As part of that effort, they have also tried to link Project 2025 to former President Donald Trump, with whom they have no formal ties.
“The American people want to get back to normal. They want to get back to common sense policies.”
Biden insisted that Project 2025 was “done.”[] The president amended the Constitution by entrusting his successor with “unlimited power.”
“Project 2025 should terrify every American,” Biden posted. X “It would give Trump unlimited power over our daily lives.”
“Donald Trump and Project 2025 are inextricably linked,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) made a similar argument.
While the left has tried to politically demonize Project 2025, Roberts and Peterson point out that it essentially lists the same ideas and principles that “unabashedly conservative” organizations have been advocating for decades.
“Only in left-leaning America would we be talking about what the conservative movement has been doing since 1980, starting with President Ronald Reagan and continuing, of course, this year with our standard-bearer, Donald Trump,” Roberts said.
“It’s the most normal thing in the world,” Peterson added.
Roberts also suggested that Democrats have so misrepresented Project 2025 because they know it is a highly attractive policy issue to ordinary voters.
“The American people want to get back to normal,” he argued. “They want to get back to common sense policies, and when most Americans look at Project 2025, they realize, ‘Yeah, we’re for that.'”
“When you see people actually out there attacking it, you know it’s a good thing,” Savage joked.
Savage also argued that Democrats and left-leaning media outlets like Rolling Stone have published a “very long list of lies” about Project 2025, including claims that Trump and other Republicans want “oversight.”[] While Roberts agrees that the left frequently lies about Project 2025, he noted that they accurately portrayed one of Project 2025’s agenda items.
“We call for the complete abolition of the U.S. Department of Education,” Roberts proudly stated.
Roberts further explained that the left is fixated on the Department of Education. Because it’s how they “indoctrinate children for generations,” he said, that’s why they’re “afraid” to do away with it.
They are apparently so “afraid” of the DOE and other Project 2025 initiatives that some activists have attempted to hack into “a very old third-party vendor’s website” that partners with the Heritage Foundation to extract personal information about employees. Roberts told Savage and Peterson that he and his group take this and other threats from Democrats seriously and are prepared to take legal action if necessary.
“This is a legal act, but they’ve picked the wrong battle,” he said.
Finally, Roberts said the Trump campaign Keeping distance In explaining some aspects of Project 2025, he said, “The presidential campaign is running its own line, the Republican Party is running its own line, and those of us who are providing talent and policies from the outside are providing or doing what we do.”
“Project 2025 exists to serve decision-makers, starting with the president.”
