During Thursday’s “CNN Newsroom” broadcast, Rep. Jonathan Jackson (D-Ill.) said President Joe Biden’s campaign should have scheduled the debate earlier because 9 p.m. is too late for older voters.
Jackson said Biden is “showing signs of age, but also resilience.” “I support President Biden. And what I want in a campaign is a team. I think there’s potential change in the campaign. I don’t know why someone asked for a 9 p.m. debate. I’m getting old myself. There was a meme I saw the other day that said, ‘You’re getting old when it’s time to go out and it’s time to go to bed.’ I prefer to head home instead of going out at 9 p.m. So I thought the debate was a little too late at night. I thought he prepared too much for the debate. He’s a debate master. He’s been doing this for 50 years. He knew that and he should have stayed true to his message. I’d like to see the campaign entourage refreshed and have new ideas and new blood around him.”
