Hikers in Colorado watch as plane nearly crashes into mountain: video

Terrifying video captures the moment a small plane crashes into a Colorado mountain.

On July 4th, a Cessna 152 was seen plummeting toward the ground and then rocketing upwards just feet before hitting the ground.

“It was coming straight towards us,” Jason Dunn, who was hiking Devil’s Thumb Mountain with his family, wrote on Facebook.

They were sitting near the top of a trail south of Rocky Mountain National Park when a small plane nosedived down a valley, heading east from Boulder, and nearly crashed to the ground.

“It was clear the plane was having trouble getting out of the saddle,” said Dan, a retired pilot from Denver. he wrote in his post.

His son, Tyler, A tragic moment captured “There’s a plane here. Oh my God. It’s like it’s right there,” he can be heard saying in the video.

Dunn said he was concerned the plane might go into a stall.

“Then either an accident occurred or the pilot made a last-ditch effort to turn the plane around in a dead-end valley before crashing into the mountains (or us),” he wrote.

“As you can see, he’s not even a few feet away.”

Viewers were shocked by the family’s close call.

“What a crazy experience!” one person commented. “I’m so glad I didn’t report the accident.”

The department said it was unclear how many people were on board the Cessna 152, though only two were passengers. The incident remains under investigation.

The plane took off from Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport just after 9 a.m. and landed at the airport about 30 minutes later. According to flight records.
