‘False charge’: WH press association president denies the group submits questions to Biden in advance

NBC News White House reporter Kelly O’Donnell, who serves as president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, denied that reporters would submit questions to President Biden’s White House before attending a press conference.

The accusations came to a head during President Biden’s key solo press conference at the end of a NATO meeting in Washington DC, as he was apparently reviewing a list of reporters he would call on during the meeting.

“This year, for the first time, our [White House] “Reporters were able to ask the President questions during a solo press conference. Our colleagues asked a range of questions about his candidacy, his party and opponents, and his ability to lead as President for another term in a complex and dangerous world. President Biden delivered a message and spoke to his critics. These exchanges are instructive to the American people with so much at stake,” O’Donnell posted on X.

“No one in the White House press corps seemed interested in telling the public what the card was.”

She later denied submitting questions in advance, saying it was a “false accusation” and that reporters “did not know in advance who would be selected.”

The allegations began when a Getty photographer captured a photo of Biden at a press conference last April holding a card listing the names, photos and media outlets he would be visiting, along with what appeared to be questions about Biden’s policies on semiconductor manufacturing.

The card is titled “Question #1.”

Despite the apparently suspicious notecard and its implications, no one on the White House press corps seemed interested in telling the public what it was or how the process actually works. This comes after White House staffers in recent days have let slip to reporters how Biden’s meetings with donors and Cabinet members are tightly controlled, with questions and agendas to be discussed submitted in advance.
