BALTIMORE — Jose Trevino scored the extra run in the ninth inning Friday night, but it came at a cost.
The Yankees placed Trevino on the 10-day disabled list after he strained his left quadriceps while sliding into home plate in the ninth inning of a 4-1 win over the Orioles on Saturday at Camden Yards.
Carlos Narvaez was promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take the vacant roster spot, but the Yankees will likely turn to catcher Austin Wells for however long Trevino is out.
Natural catcher Ben Rice is also on the roster, but he has been making regular starts at first base in place of an injured Anthony Rizzo and has only played one inning at catcher since being promoted last month.

Trevino’s injury came on a night when he hit two doubles after only hitting two doubles in 58 games before Friday.
The 25-year-old Narvaez is known for his strong pitch framing and has made an impact in Triple-A as a right-handed hitter, batting .269 with a .834 OPS and nine home runs with 78 strikeouts in 70 games this season.
