Former President Donald Trump was apparently shot at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, prompting some on the left to spread conspiracy theories that the shooting was a hoax.
Trump was at the podium in front of supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, when shots rang out. Trump grabbed his ear and was surrounded by members of the Secret Service. Trump then stood up and pumped his fist into the crowd, visibly bleeding from his ear.
“It was all Trump’s doing.”
While many offered their thoughts and prayers for the president, some people took to social media to claim the shooting was a hoax.
“The attempted shooting of President Trump was clearly fabricated by the right wing to gain sympathy and votes. The man appears to be shaking his fist at the security guard, saying, ‘Wait, this is perfect!’ (LOL)” One Tweet.
“Look, this whole thing is going to turn out to be a hoax. It was all orchestrated by Trump.” Said Another user.
“This Trump shooting is a hoax. His bodyguards seem totally clueless!” Claimed Another critic.
“You fire three shots, nobody hits anyone, you rush him off stage so he doesn’t have to rush you, and he poses for a photo. No one moves. It’s a hoax.” read Another response.
“So what a coincidence that this Trump shenanigan happened in a state he needs.” Reply Another user.
“This is a hoax just like Jan. 6th. @realDonaldTrump set this up and orchestrated it to get shot here. Closely connected to the Trump campaign,” he said. account They call themselves progressive.
The Secret Service confirmed that President Trump was indeed injured in a “security incident” and was being treated at a medical center.
