Dutch populist leader Geert Wilders, long a target of political violence, warned that the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump could be repeated in Europe and urged his countrymen not to underestimate “hatred towards right-wing politicians.”
The strongman behind the Dutch government, along with European populists such as Nigel Farage and Robert Fitzrove, blamed the media for stoking hatred against former president and 2024 presidential frontrunner Donald Trump after he was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Fortunately, the assassination attempt failed, with the bullet only hitting the Republican frontrunner in the ear.
Following the assassination attempt, Wilders I have written Regarding X: “The hateful rhetoric by many left-wing politicians and the media calling right-wing politicians racists and Nazis is not without consequences. They are playing with fire.”
“What happened in the US can happen in the Netherlands too. Don’t underestimate it. The hatred towards right-wing politicians is also unprecedented in our country. Their security should be significantly increased if necessary,” he said. Added.
Wilders expressed optimism: Conclusion“I love America. The strength and perseverance of the American people is unprecedented. I have every confidence that our 45th President will become our 47th President, and no one deserves that more than President Trump.”
Wilders is no stranger to political violence: His 2008 film “Fatima,” which criticised the theological assumptions of Islam and blamed the Quran for Islamic terrorism and the mistreatment of women, gays and non-Muslims, led to a fatwa (death warrant) from radical Muslims and forced him to live in hiding for years with 24-hour guards.
