Just days after the horrific assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump that left Corey Comparatore dead and two more injured, the gravity of the incident could sink the presidential election and save Joe Biden’s candidacy.

According to Axios, a leading House Democrat said, “We’ve all given up on President Trump’s reelection.” Can you blame them?

The last time we saw a more iconic image of courage, freedom and America than President Trump raising his fist after being shot, it was on Iwo Jima and will now be remembered forever in history.

With four months to go until the general election, a lot can happen, and while it’s true that Trump is still not up for a second consecutive term, the election’s Magic 8 Ball is pointing to victory, which is reason enough to keep Grandpa Joe on your shortlist.

Some House Democrats have given up on Biden and are resigned to Trump’s second presidential inauguration

After all, the last-minute switch to Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Gavin Newsom was meant to present a new face, one that’s younger, more energetic, and now might run a double marathon and not look as indomitable as the blood-soaked former president.

And that’s not all: Ever since it became clear that Trump would be the Republican nominee, Democrats have focused all their energy on what they see as a grave threat to democracy from him, with now deadly consequences.

Now that any Democrat challenging Trump seems doomed to certain defeat, why not just leave Biden to the proverbial wolves, win, lose, or draw? Either way, his political career is over.

In an effort to get Americans to forget about economic hardship, a world on fire, boys playing girls’ sports, and the other strange priorities of Democratic leadership, they portrayed Trump as an evil dictator and murdered the husband and father he is.

What did the far-left expect after years of hateful anti-Trump rhetoric?

After a moment that drew attention away from one of the most tragic and traumatic events in American history, that kind of fiery, dark Brandon energy is about as welcome as a drinking contest at a Mormon retreat.

Simply put, the very case the Democrats had – that inflation may be bad and the world is burning but Trump is literally Hitler – is now barred, for very good reasons.

No, Democrats will now have to actually defend Biden’s dismal record, marked by the lowest approval ratings in the history of the republic. Good luck.

It’s truly incredible, but it feels like two years, but it was only just under two weeks ago that Joe Biden slammed his face into the ground on the debate stage and launched an unstoppable effort to remove Joe as the nominee.

Bret Baier: Melania Trump’s call to ‘rise above hate’ should be a mantra for all Americans

But any Democrat who challenges Trump now seems doomed to lose, so why not just throw Biden to the proverbial wolves, win, lose, or draw? His political career is over either way.

Politics is a strange game with twists and turns, each more surprising than the last. Just a few days ago, all Joe Biden and his supporters were hoping for was a way to stay in the race and turn a new page on his fading abilities.

Be careful what you wish for.

On Sunday night, President Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office, the latest forceful move to reassure the public that he is keeping his cool.

The speech switched at a football game at a Wisconsin sports bar where I was dining.

Gabe, a local landscaper wearing a blue Chelsea jersey, put his head in his hands, shook it and said, “He has no idea what he’s talking about.”

But that doesn’t matter anymore. In fact, if Trump wins — and even Democrats acknowledge, at least privately, that’s likely — that could be Biden’s swan song, so long as the Democratic Party has a young, up-and-coming candidate.

Sometimes fate intervenes, sometimes a turn of the head can mean the difference between life and death, and sometimes, like this assassination attempt, a sinister event can clarify what is truly important.

Joe Biden has survived one more day and at least another four months, but the cost is very high and the path to the White House is wide open for Trump.
