U.S. team coach Steve Kerr and point guard Stephen Curry called for stricter gun control measures following Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Trump.
USA Today Quote Curry says:
All the discussion about the election and the political situation in our country, and situations like this [creates] There are a lot of emotions swirling around about the things we need to get right as a nation, and obviously gun control is number one, because there is even a chance that someone could carry out such an attack.
U.S. team coach Carr, a long-time advocate of gun control, criticized “gun culture” in response to the assassination attempt.
car Said:
Today is a demoralizing day for our country and yet another example of not only political division but gun culture. A 20-year-old with an AR-15 is trying to shoot a former president. It’s all hard to comprehend, and it’s scary to think what this could become, given the problems that already exist in this country. So this is a terrible day.”
Breitbart News reported that John Cleese of Monty Python fame blamed the NRA for the assassination attempt.
I’m just waiting for the NRA to explain that guns don’t fuel mass shootings.

Breitbart News also reported that Tennessee Sen. London Lamar (Democrat) said he hoped the assassination attempt would help persuade Republicans to support gun control.
Lamar posted on X:
Trump said it’s okay, but will he consider sensible gun control? Gun violence is rampant in our country, and I hope this will change the minds of Trump’s supporters and Republican lawmakers.

Author Stephen King echoed this sentiment, mocking Republicans for refusing to work toward banning AR-15 rifles.
king I have written“The Butler shooting involved an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle. This is the gun Republicans and Trump want to protect.”
Ironically, both King and Cleese Mentioned There are 28,144,000 AR-15 and AK-47 style rifles in circulation, but of those more than 28 million guns, only one has been used in such a heinous manner.
