Biden says it’s an ‘open question’ if Secret Service failed to protect Trump, threats have ‘curtailed’ his own events

MILWAUKEE — President Biden said Monday it’s an “open question” whether the Secret Service failed to do its job of protecting former President Donald Trump before he was shot during an assassination attempt Saturday at a Pennsylvania rally.

“The Secret Service makes me feel safe,” the 81-year-old president said in an interview with NBC host Lester Holt.

“Should they have foreseen what was going to happen? … That’s an open question,” Biden said when asked about the work of the security services.

Biden said he hasn’t been able to shake hands with supporters recently due to safety concerns.

“I love meeting people, and it’s really limited my ability to do that on my end,” Biden said.
