The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is reportedly considering not endorsing Joe Biden for President, a shocking development that would be a devastating blow to the Biden campaign.
Reuters reported: report Two sources familiar with the matter confirmed this.
The union, which has 1.2 million members, endorsed Biden for the 2022 presidential election, but questions about the president’s mental and cognitive competency have called into question an endorsement that seemed a sure thing for Democrats in recent years.
Officially, a union spokesman would only say that no decision had been made yet.
“No final decision has been made yet,” Kara Dennis said.
A rift in the union’s political relationship with the Biden campaign appeared when its head agreed to speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In January, President Trump met with labor leaders. Discourage Prevent them from supporting Biden.
“Typically, you don’t get that kind of support from Republicans,” Trump said at the time, “but not me. I’ve employed thousands of Teamsters, and I thought we should come and pay our respects.”
The union also donated $45,000 to each party for the first time in 24 years.
Also Monday, the union’s president, Sean O’Brien, praised the news that former President Donald Trump had chosen Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
“In the short time that we’ve worked together, he’s done a great job on Teamster issues.” Said “He’s been tackling all of our issues head on,” O’Brien said on Fox News.
