Prominent sportscaster Bob Costas continued to call for President Joe Biden to step down from office and allow a younger candidate to run, citing his “significant decline.”
Appearing on CNN on Saturday, hours before the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Costas said Biden’s performance in the first debate showed he was in “serious decline.”
“And for those who say the definition of cognitive dissonance here is, ‘Oh, we can’t fire him because of one bad night,’ that one bad night, that terrible night, was just a huge indicator of what’s been clear for years that he was in serious decline,” Costas said.

Costas even went so far as to argue that no one should serve as president beyond the age of 85.
“Nobody, not even the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, should be president at 85 or 86,” Costas said. “But this guy is clearly in decline at this point. And whether he can serve the next four years is a different story, but part of the job is to win the presidency, and as you just said, that seems nearly impossible.”
Costas previously called Biden’s reelection campaign this year an “arrogant” one.
As Breitbart News reported, Democrats have put a lid on any efforts to replace Joe Biden as their nominee following the assassination attempt on former President Trump this weekend. In the wake of the historic moment, the first in more than 40 years, the focus has shifted to unity.
“We’re all prepared for President Trump to be re-elected,” one senior Democrat was quoted as saying by Axios.
