I do not condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” Black wrote. “After much consideration, I no longer feel it is appropriate for Tenacious D to continue to tour and all future creative plans have been put on hold. I thank my fans for their support and understanding.”
According to Deadline, even an Australian senator has called for Tenacious D to be deported from the country.
During the band’s concert in Sydney, Australia, the video shows Gus being presented with a birthday cake and Black singing “Happy Birthday” to Gus onstage, after which Black tells Gus to “make a wish.”
Black’s bandmate waited a few seconds, then said, “Next time, make sure you don’t miss Trump,” before blowing out the candles. Black responded, “Thank you!”
