J.D. Vance Encapsulates ‘the American Story’

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s pick for vice president, embodies “the American story,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said in an interview with Breitbart News reporter Matthew Boyle at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday.

“Yesterday was a great day,” he said, calling Vance “a great senator from the Buckeye State.”

“I mean… he’s the American story, the American dream. He was a guy that came from humble beginnings and now he’s on the list of candidates. I think he’ll be the next vice president. I couldn’t imagine anyone more deserving of it,” he continued.

Asked if he’d be interested in filling the Senate seat vacated by Vance if Trump wins, Jordan said he was “committed to helping my colleagues win,” naming Ohio Senate candidate Bernie Moreno as his first candidate.

“we [Dave] “I’m campaigning with John in Pennsylvania, and he’s also a great candidate, so we’re focused on that, and of course we’ll help President Trump and JD win the election there. So I’ll be focused on that and the responsibilities I have as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee for the remainder of this Congress,” he added, denying speculation that he would run for Senate anytime soon.

Jordan also recounted the moment Trump entered the convention on Monday night, two days after the assassination attempt.

“Then it continued later that night, so I don’t know if it was 4 p.m., 3 p.m., I don’t know when,” he said of the announcement. “Then at 10 o’clock last night, President Trump walked in and the place erupted,” he said, calling it a “shock moment.”

“There’s something special about President Trump. I feel fortunate,” he said, explaining that he has gotten to know the president over the past eight years.

“I say this probably in every speech as I travel around the country: ‘I wish every American could meet him, because when you’re around him, you can’t help but love him.’ He has charisma. He has energy. He loves this country. That comes across so clearly. And I think we saw all of that through the events of the weekend, the awful events on Saturday. But, of course, his response to it on Saturday and, as you said, the way he walked in last night, he just looked like a president, because he’s a leader. He’s the president. I mean, just a great guy, a great guy,” he added.
