Greg Laurie Prays that Assassination Attempt Will Be ‘Turning Point’ for Trump’s Faith

Pastor, author Gregg Rolie He prays that Saturday’s assassination attempt will be a “turning point” in former President Donald Trump’s life and lead him to a deeper faith, the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California told TBN. Tonight’s StakelbeckHe said he believed God intervened to save Trump’s life, as the bullet missed his ear and came within a half-inch of penetrating his skull.

“I just watched a documentary on President Reagan, and as you all know, shortly after he was inaugurated he was shot,” Rowley said. “…He was hospitalized and nearly died. That was a turning point in Reagan’s life and he committed himself to peace and to the abolition of nuclear weapons. And he made a new commitment. And his faith in God grew dramatically. And the faith that he inherited from his mother came back into his life after a traumatic event later in his life.”

Lawrie hopes the same thing happens to Trump. Lawrie’s comments were first Church Leaders.

“In President Trump’s case, it’s significant that he has publicly acknowledged that it was God who intervened,” Rowley said, referring to comments the former president made after he survived. “If he had simply turned his head forward, he probably would have died and we would have seen what we saw with President Kennedy in Dallas, where he simply turned his head and the bullets just went right through him.”

“I pray that this will be a turning point for President Trump,” Rowley said. “I’ve prayed for him in the Oval Office twice and been with him on many other occasions. … Whenever someone asks, ‘Mr. President, can we pray for you?’ he always bows his head and says, ‘Yes, please.’ So I pray that this will deepen his faith in his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.”

Lowry said the crisis “reminds us that God is sovereign over all, that He can intervene, and that no one can thwart or stop His plan.”

Meanwhile, Rowley praised the heroism of Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former firefighter who was killed at the rally.

“He was also a devout Christian,” Laurie said, “and he literally gave his life and his body for his family.”
