Homeland Security Agency Is Interfering in House’s Assassination Investigation

An agency run by impeached immigration official Alejandro Mayorkas is obstructing the House investigation into the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) told Breitbart News.

Cloud says the shoot was a “huge failure” He told Breitbart News In an interview at the Republican National Convention, he said he expected DHS to “immediately [Mayorkas’ Department of Homeland Security] “It’s obfuscation as opposed to transparency. This should not be tolerated in our country, regardless of party.”

The Secret Service is part of Mayorkas’ Department of Homeland Security and is run by Kimberly Cheatle, who has a degree in sociology.

Cloud serves on the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.).

“Today was supposed to be the first briefing on the facts of this case, what’s going on, what we know today, but now Homeland Security has intervened in the communications between the Secret Service and the Oversight Committee and is trying to control the communications between the two committees,” Cloud told Breitbart News in an interview at the Republican National Convention.

Mayorkas is now rushing to select someone “within days” to lead a so-called independent investigation into the agency’s failings.

Since 2021, Mayorkas has used his unique power within President Joe Biden’s administration to advance immigrant interests and help relocate some 10 million immigrants to American communities, homes and workplaces across the U.S. This elite-backed policy led to his impeachment by the House of Representatives in February 2024 and hurt Biden’s approval rating in the 2024 election.

Cloud continued, “And so Chairman Comer is issuing a subpoena to ensure that the director of the Secret Service appears.” [at a hearing]At this point, the plan is to have the commission meet again on Monday next week to see if she can appear and begin the investigation.”

“It appears they’re already whitewashing the information,” Cloud said, adding: “They should be able to release preliminary information. I understand this is not going to be a one-off … but this is coming from the same administration that labeled Catholics as terrorists, that labeled people who attend school committee meetings as terrorists, and they’re failing to protect a former president of the United States and a political opponent. We’ve seen this administration target political opponents before, and now they’re failing to protect a former president and future president of the United States. So this is extremely disturbing.”

Senator Cloud continued.

“First let me say this. [With] This kind of failure by the Secret Service is…honorable. [for the director] “What she needs to do at this point is resign. She’s going to say, ‘Oh, I have to make sure this never happens again.’ That’s not the job description. The job description is to make sure this never happens again, that’s all. That word ‘again’ has to go. As director of the Secret Service, you should not have two assassination attempts.”

“So we will continue to investigate this as information becomes available to us,” Cloud added.

On Tuesday, Governor Mayorkas again voiced his support for Cheatle after Cheatle acknowledged that Secret Service agents were not intentionally positioned on the roof where the sniper nearly killed Trump on Monday.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof on the highest part of it,” Cheatle told ABC News. on monday“So, you know, for safety reasons, you don’t want to put people on a sloping roof… [so] The decision was made to protect the building from the inside,” she said. The segment was released on Tuesday.

Early Tuesday morning, NPR Asked Mayorkas: “Are you anticipating people losing their jobs over the weekend?”

“I have 100% confidence in the director of the United States Secret Service, who is a dedicated and long-time law enforcement officer,” Mayorkas told NPR.

Cheatle has a degree in sociology and served in the U.S. Secret Service for more than 24 years. She was recruited for the position by President Joe Biden in August 2024. President Biden said:

Jill and I know firsthand Kim’s passion for her work. We grew to trust her judgment and counsel when she was my security officer when I was Vice President. She is an outstanding law enforcement officer with exceptional leadership abilities and was absolutely the perfect choice to lead the Secret Service at this critical time for the agency. I have my full confidence in her and look forward to working with her.
