Donald Trump Jr. had a surprising response President Trump on Tuesday responded to reports that the Iranian government was plotting to assassinate his father, former President Donald Trump, calling it “probably the biggest political endorsement in history.”
Trump’s eldest son, a spokesman for his father’s campaign, made the comments during an interview on “Hannity” broadcast live from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, shortly after the former president arrived at the venue with a visible bandage over his right ear for the second night in a row.

“I think it’s a great endorsement. It’s probably good for the United States and bad for Iran that a country like Iran wants to get rid of us,” said Trump Jr. “It may be the greatest political endorsement ever, but then they become much more capable than a kid with a rifle.”
Two federal law enforcement sources told Fox News that the Department of Homeland Security had received intelligence from a human source about a plot by Iran to assassinate former President Trump. The intelligence has led to increased Secret Service protection for Trump in recent weeks, CNN first reported. Homeland Security and the Secret Service have growing concerns about Trump hosting outdoor events, Fox News was told.
The plot does not appear to be related to the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who shot Trump at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, over the weekend, according to the people. Iran’s mission to the United Nations denied the allegations, calling them “baseless and malicious,” in a statement to Fox News Digital. Trump said: January 2020 strike It killed Lt. Gen. Trump Jr.’s defiant tone on Tuesday came a day after he was seen tearfully welcoming his father to the Republican National Convention in his first public appearance since the assassination attempt. The eldest son was visibly emotional as the former president walked through the packed auditorium to thunderous applause.
When Sean Hannity asked him how Saturday’s assassination attempt on his father affected him personally, he jokingly replied, “I was allergic to it.”

“The Trump family didn’t cry that much, but the moment was very heavy. 48 hours later … there was just an outpouring of emotion and just the love that we felt here,” he said. “What we’ve seen here in Milwaukee over the last two days has just been incredible.”
