Schumer’s Office Issues Non-Denial Denial on Pressing Biden to Leave

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York) reportedly told President Joe Biden this week to drop out of the race, a charge his office did not deny.

According to ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, Schumer had a “frank, one-on-one conversation” with the president in which he advised him to step down to give Democrats a better chance in the fall elections. Schumer’s office did not deny the conversation took place.

“We’re hearing that Chuck Schumer had a frank, one-on-one discussion with Biden in Rehoboth on Saturday afternoon, in which Schumer forcefully argued that it would be best for Biden to withdraw from the race,” Carl Onx said.

When pressed, Schumer’s office did not deny the allegations.

“Mr. Schumer’s office would not comment on the specifics of the conversation, saying only that Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus,” Kahl said.

Kahl said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-Calif., has expressed a similar sentiment.

“Sources say Hakeem Jeffries has expressed a similar view to Biden. A spokesperson for Jeffries told me, ‘The letter that House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sent to his House Democratic colleagues speaks for itself. It was a private conversation and remains private,'” Kahl added.

White House press secretary Andrew Bates later told Kahl, “The president has informed both leaders that he is their party’s nominee, that he intends to win, and that he looks forward to working with them to pass a 100-day package to help working families.”

The conversation with Schumer reportedly came after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned in a recent private meeting that Democrats stand to lose everything in this election as long as President Joe Biden remains the front-runner. Schiff delivered the warning to donors at a meeting on Saturday before the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Schiff feared that Democrats would not only lose the White House, but also lose lower-tier races for the House and Senate.

“If he’s our nominee, I think we’re going to lose,” Schiff said at the meeting, according to minutes obtained by Congress. The New York Times“And we’re going to lose the Senate and very likely lose our chance to take back the House.”

As Breitbart News reported, Democrats have put aside any efforts within the party to replace Joe Biden as their nominee in the wake of the assassination attempt and are shifting their focus to unity in the wake of this historic moment, the first in more than 40 years.

“We’re all prepared for President Trump to be re-elected,” one senior Democrat was quoted as saying by Axios.

Since that fateful day, President Biden has not signaled any intention to resign, and there have been calls on social media for him to do so.
