Milwaukee, Wisconsin Former President Donald Trump is putting the finishing touches on his acceptance speech, which he will deliver on the final night of the Republican National Convention. He has begun a complete rewrite of the speech after he was shot in an assassination attempt on Saturday.
Republican National Committee officials told reporters Thursday morning that Trump will take a more personal approach and focus on uniting the country, not just the Republican Party.
As the suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired his rifle, Trump turned his head and thanked God for his life just before the first bullet struck the top of his right ear. Commentators watching the Republican National Convention noted that Trump appeared to be humbled by his near-death experience.
Speakers this evening include Tucker Carlson, Hulk Hogan and Dana White, who is scheduled to speak before Trump takes the stage.
While safety concerns have been raised at the RNC, it is not a top priority for attendees, as dozens of law enforcement agencies from around the country are on site to ensure no serious incidents occur.
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle met with President Trump at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday. Cheatle was at the Fiserv Forum when lawmakers grilled her about security failures at Saturday’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Cheatle initially acknowledged Secret Service failures but did not provide details, promising to respond at a later date.
Cheatle then walked away and refused to answer any further questions.
One of the most shocking things revelation The strongest evidence in the assassination attempt is that the Secret Service reportedly knew that Crooks was on the unsecured roof 10 minutes before Trump took the stage.
