Milwaukee – The Democratic National Convention is expected to be a week of “chaos and confusion” following Biden’s disastrous debate performance that led to calls for him to drop out of the race and an assassination attempt on former President Trump, Illinois Republican Rep. Darin LaHood told Fox News Digital.
“This movement to oust Biden is growing every day… Democrats know they can’t win as long as Joe Biden is on the shortlist. That’s their problem. We have to stay focused and disciplined on the message of President Trump and J.D. Vance,” LaHood told Fox News Digital at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“I think it’s going to be chaos and dysfunction,” LaHood said of what he expects from the Democratic National Convention. “Contrast that with Milwaukee. I’ve never seen the convention, the unity, the activism, the energy in the first two days of this convention.”
The Democratic National Convention begins next month in LaHood’s home state of Illinois, starting in Chicago on Monday, August 19. The Democrats are in the midst of a steep decline in the race, with Democrats including Rep. Adam Schiff of California continuing to call for Biden to drop out of the race, citing concerns about his mental health to take on Trump this year.

“While it is up to President Biden to decide whether to withdraw from the campaign trail, I believe the time has come for him to pass the baton,” Schiff said in a statement this week, “so we can defeat Donald Trump in the next election and ensure his legacy of leadership.”
Biden has been urged to withdraw before delegates at the Democratic National Convention formally nominate their candidate for the 2024 presidential election.
Pelosi said she was “confident that Biden will lose” and was “on the phone negotiating to get Biden voted out of the election.”

LaHood pointed to “two significant events over the past three weeks” that have thrown chaos into the Democrats’ fight to keep the White House.
“President Biden’s debate performance was abysmal and highlighted his lack of mental acuity. But it also showed where President Trump stands on the issues and how stronger he has become in the debates. Combine that with the horrific events of last Saturday and what happened, and we will never forget President Trump’s words, ‘Fight! Fight! Fight!’ and his leadership and courage,” he said.

“There’s just so much energy and enthusiasm from everybody here and it’s really felt at the convention. So we really had a flawless convention. The unity here, the togetherness, is really palpable. And I think it’s a stark contrast to Chicago,” he continued.
Speaking of the message of unity, LaHood noted that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis all voiced their support for both Trump and Vance after they challenged each other in the primaries.
“You saw President Trump’s opponents, Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz, come forward last night to give glowing praise to President Trump. So I think that unity will be continued by J.D. Vance,” he said.
After 200 interviews, the FBI concluded that it was an attempted assassination of Trump, but lawmakers criticized it as “nonsense”

The attempted assassination of President Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening has also captured the attention of the Republican National Convention, prompting calls within the party to tone down political rhetoric to avoid inciting violence. House Intelligence Committee chair LaHood told Fox News Digital that he has spoken with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) about investigating the assassination attempt.

“I’ve been in contact with him and urging him to set up a special committee or task force as soon as Congress returns next week to get to the truth. As a former federal prosecutor, I need to follow the facts and the evidence. Our role in Congress is to oversight the executive branch, and that includes the Secret Service. A mistake was made here, make no doubt about it. People need to be held accountable, we need to make sure this never happens again, and we need to get to the truth, and I think that’s going to happen soon,” he said.
