Bob Newhart remembered by Kaley Cuoco, Jamie Lee Curtis, Judd Apatow: ‘Icon forever’

Kaley Cuoco, Jamie Lee Curtis and Judd Apatow were among the first to pay tribute to comedy legend Bob Newhart after he passed away on Thursday.

Newhart died of natural causes at his Los Angeles home on Thursday morning after a series of brief illnesses, publicist Jerry Digney confirmed to Fox News Digital. He was 94 years old.

“It was a dream come true to witness the genius that is Bob Newhart,” Cuoco, who co-starred with Newhart on the hit sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” wrote in an Instagram Story.

She continued, “He was classy, ​​kind, generous and just so funny. Every take, every time. An eternal icon.”

In another post on her Instagram Story, Cuoco wrote, “Bob, we will never forget you! Thank you for making our dreams come true!”

Curtis shared a black and white photo of Newhart on Instagram, writing, “After they leave us they will be laughing wherever people go. Oh he was funny! Bob Newhart. We will miss you!”

Mayim Bialik, Newhart’s co-star on “The Big Bang Theory,” also paid tribute to the late comedian in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“As a child, The Bob Newhart Show gave me countless hours of entertainment; it was part of my initial training in the art of the sitcom,” she wrote. [‘The Big Bang Theory’]”It was a dream come true. He was effortlessly professional, poised, funny and incredibly approachable. Working with Bob was like working with a true comedy legend, and we don’t see that kind of person around anymore. He will be truly missed!”

Apatow co-directed the 2023 documentary Bob & Don: A Love Story, which explored Newhart’s longtime friendship with the late legendary comedian Don Rickles.

“Bob Newhart was the kindest, funniest guy. He asked me to make a documentary about his friendship with Don Rickles. I was so blessed to spend time with my hero. His brilliant comedy and kind heart brought so much joy to all who met him,” Apatow wrote in a post on X.

Mark Hamill also posted a tribute to Newhart on X, sharing an old photo of the sitcom star and writing, “From groundbreaking stand-up to two classic sitcoms, he gave us a lifetime of laughs. Truly one of a kind. Thank you Bob Newhart! #RestInPeace.”

Zooey Deschanel also paid tribute to Newhart, who co-starred with her in the hit 2003 Christmas comedy “Elf.”

“Bob Newhart was an absolute genius and the sweetest, most kind person. He will be truly missed,” she told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Lesley Ann Warren, who played Newhart’s wife on the ABC drama series “Desperate Housewives,” said in a statement to Fox News Digital, “Bob Newhart, a true comedy legend. You will be missed but your unforgettable performances will live on for generations to come. It was my absolute pleasure working alongside you. Rest in peace.”

Alec Baldwin paid tribute to Newhart in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of the actor and writing, “Farewell to the great Bob Newhart…”

Fellow comedian Dane Cook recalled being inspired by Newhart in a post he shared on X.

“Bob Newhart passed away today. His album ‘The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart’ had a huge impact on my career. He was one of the greatest comedians, past or present, and had an incredible act. Always funny, always from the heart. He always reminds me why I got into stand-up. The legendary Bob Newhart, you will always be funny.”

Former U.S. Senator Al Franken, who rose to fame appearing on Saturday Night Live, paid tribute to Newhart via X, writing, “Bob Newhart was a great man, a genius and a wonderful person. I will always remember when he hosted SNL and had a great show. As you can imagine, he was a joy to work with. May his memory be a blessing.”
