Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of former President Donald Trump Jr., has decided to speak at the Republican National Convention after her grandfather survived the brink of death last week.
“She called me on Monday and said, ‘I want to speak at the convention because I feel really strongly about this,'” Trump Jr. said, appearing with Kai on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Thursday. “I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ Because that’s not an easy first speaking opportunity. But she was like, ‘Sure.'”
Appearing on “The Story,” Kai reflected on his speech, one of the highlights of Wednesday night’s sold-out convention in Milwaukee, and his relationship with his grandfather.

“I spend a lot of time with him,” she said. “I see him every weekend on the golf course.”
The former president’s granddaughter has claimed that the media’s image of Trump is not “the real him” and that to her he is just a “regular grandpa”.
“He gives us everything we want and he’s always looking out for us and wants to know how we’re doing,” she said, “so it’s frustrating when people paint a picture of him that he’s not.”

Kai also recalled the terrifying moments after receiving news that her grandfather had been the target of an assassination attempt, saying it took about 90 minutes before she found out he was safe. Still, she expressed pride in how her grandfather handled the moment.
“It was a very heartbreaking and tragic moment,” she said, adding that the iconic scene of Trump standing and raising his fist after a bullet grazed his ear was “like nothing I’d ever seen before.”
“I thought it was so amazing and powerful. You can’t fake that moment at all,” she said of the scene. “It means he’s truly caring and he’s fighting for America.”

As for his current plans, Kai said he wants to become a professional golfer one day.
“That’s definitely my goal and I work towards it every day,” she said.
