Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on Friday night called on his party’s standard-bearer, Joe Biden, to end his increasingly fanciful reelection campaign against President Donald Trump.
Brown followed the standard template used by many of the roughly 30 Democrats calling for Biden to step down, first arguing that he consulted with voters before making a decision and then listing a number of poll-validated campaign priorities.
“I agree with the many Ohioans who have contacted me,” Brown concluded his statement. “At this critical time, we must focus our full attention on these important issues. I believe the president should end his campaign.”

President Joe Biden continues to try to stop the bleeding as he loses key supporters, but as the president drags down his candidates, they are turning against him to stop their own bleeding.
Trump’s highly-attended Republican National Convention culminated in a lengthy speech on Thursday night, just days after the shootings, which stood in sharp contrast to several choreographed appearances by Biden and sparked a new wave of Democrats calling on him to resign on Friday.
Brown is the latest example, but the list is sure to continue to grow as establishment figures pressure Biden to step aside for the good of the party. The Ohio native refused to abandon Biden in the days and weeks after his brutal June 27 debate defeat sparked questions about his competence.
Brown will face Republican Bernie Moreno in November, in one of the Republicans’ biggest electoral opportunities this term.
