Small-cap stocks such as Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) have added billions of dollars to their market capitalization so far this year, buoyed by the recent rotation from large-cap stocks (SP500) (SPY) (COMP:IND) into the U.S. stock market.
Russell 2000 (RTY) rose for a second straight week, gaining 1.5%, but the gains were limited as recent gains stalled. Citing data from EPFR, Bank of America said on Friday that small-cap funds saw $9.9 billion in inflows over the past week, the second-largest weekly inflow on record.
Insmed (INSM) is one of the Russell 2000 (RTY) companies whose stock prices have risen strongly as their market capitalization has expanded. Insmed’s (INSM) valuation has risen to $11.3 billion so far this year from $4.3 billion in 2023. Shares of the biotechnology company focused on rare lung diseases have risen 145% year to date after falling about 29% in late May.
