Police Lt. Daniel Vizcarra told reporters the woman led police to a nearby home, where officers found another woman with bloody cuts, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third woman was found inside the home and taken to the hospital for a “medical emergency,” according to police. KTLA reported that the woman suffered a heart attack and was unharmed in the altercation.

Police efforts to determine what prompted the deadly attack have been slowed because the women speak only Mandarin.

“Preliminary investigations suggest there may be a family relationship, but again, due to the language barrier, this cannot be confirmed,” Vizcarra said.

Police said an interpreter was dispatched to both the home and the hospital.
