But after Clark beat Team USA’s veterans 117-109 for the all-star assist total, the former Iowa star said he “didn’t feel any pride” in his team’s victory.

“No, it’s a really strong team,” she said with a smile. “There’s a lot of talent on that team. It was the same four years ago, the WNBA team beat Team USA, that’s for sure. [and] They were just fine at the Olympics.”
The U.S. team suffered a loss before it could compete for a gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, but this year’s loss was a big disappointment for WNBA fans, especially Caitlin Clark Fans were outraged that she was not selected for the national team in Paris.
But for Clark, she believes Saturday’s loss is more a testament to the talent in the WNBA.

“I think it just shows how good this league is, it just shows how much talent there is in this league and how much you have to show up and be prepared every night because there are a lot of guys out there that aren’t even playing at All-Star Weekend that still get to be here and experience moments like this.”
She continued, “From my personal standpoint, I think it’s a great opportunity and will help them prepare for Paris. I’ll be supporting them and cheering them on. I love the Olympics. I’ve always loved the Olympics since I was a kid. They’re going to be fine. I’m sure they’ll win gold and dominate, so I’m not worried.”
The disappointment of Clark not helping USA women’s basketball maintain its dominance in the Olympics also comes with a silver lining: She can finally rest after a nonstop journey that included winning a championship her senior year at Iowa and becoming the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer.
