Justin Rose issues genuine authentic message to fans after runner-up finish at The Open

Justin Rose had a chance to win the British Open on Sunday, but fell just short, finishing as runner-up.

The Englishman was in contention for the win after the first nine holes, but then his putting went haywire, and Rose finished with five birdies and one bogey for a four-under 67.

Despite falling short, Rose Posted a heartfelt message He congratulated Xander Schauffele on his second major win and thanked the fans for their support.

“Congratulations Xander…two major championships, well deserved,” Rose wrote. “I felt confident and gave it my all today and this week. I walked out the 18th hole after each round knowing I gained something that day. Thank you all for your support, it’s so appreciated!! The Jug dream is still alive.”

After the round, Rose showed a lot of emotion.

“It was a shock because I was so strong today,” he said. “I played the way I wanted to today.”

“I did a lot of good things on the golf course today that were difficult. I had a couple of putts that didn’t go in and that gave me an advantage. I gave it my all and I’m very proud of how I fought.”

Rose had three birdies in the first half to finish in 33, but his momentum faded in the second half.

He made par save after par on the toughest holes.

Rose missed the Claret Jug by just a few feet of putting.

He missed a 9-foot birdie putt by six inches on the 13th hole and an 18-foot birdie putt by seven inches on the 14th hole. The former U.S. Open champion missed a birdie putt by a foot on the 15th hole.

Rose drilled a 51-foot eagle putt on the par-5 16th hole after hitting his driver off the deck and reaching the green in two strokes, but ultimately was content with a 3-foot birdie.

Rose finally hit the ball home on the 18th hole, a stunning 15-foot birdie shot for the Ryder Cup veteran that earned him a runner-up finish alongside Billy Horschel and the big prize money.

But Rose had no regrets on Sunday; he gave it his all on the course.

“I made a promise to myself today that I wouldn’t have any regrets,” he said. “I’ll have a few more chances… You want to walk off the golf course feeling good, and I didn’t waste my chances. I made putts on the holes today… I felt great playing, and the fact that I haven’t been in the running to win much this year gives me a lot of encouragement.”

Rose is a great sportsman, a genuine person and just a first class guy. Even though the tournament ended unfavorably for him, he still found the strength to congratulate the winner and express his feelings.
