Campaignus Interruptus – Pulling Out of the Campaign Too Early?

While Biden undoubtedly is concerned about his party’s political future, we remain concerned about having an impaired commander-in-chief remain in office. With little sense and now no political power, this would be an ideal time for a foreign adversary to make a move, catching the US in an awkward and confused state.

In his official statement, Biden said:

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president,” Biden wrote in a public letter. “While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”

The President seemed able to rally some to his support after his “Big Boy” speech, but it only temporarily quelled calls for him to resign.

However, with each subsequent public appearance, his mental condition was evident and apparently he acted poorly on an internal Zoom call to party leaders.

Now the party is left in disarray, and the wishes of millions of primary voters have been cast aside.  So much for “democracy.” The party elders (and we do mean elderly) and the billionaire donors want him out.

Meanwhile cackling Kamala remains the heir to $250 million in campaign donations and the President directly thanked her in his statement. On the other hand, he also said he wanted to dedicate his remaining time to his duties as President.

So as suggested before, this removes Biden as a candidate but leaves him as President.

If he is incapable of running a campaign, how can he be capable of running the country?

Will Kamala now move in for the political kill shot and request the cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment?

Maybe, but as we have recently pointed out, this process is much more complicated than the public thinks.

Meanwhile, Biden made additional statements on X, stating he was giving the Vice President “my full support and endorsement”.

Whether the rest of the party goes along remains to be seen. But those who live by identity politics are destined to die by them. Removing a black female candidate could prove almost impossible for Democrats.

Kamala polls only slightly better than President Biden. According to a recent Ipsos poll:

  • Harris: 35% favorable, 46% unfavorable, 13% no opinion
  • Biden: 32% favorable, 55% unfavorable, 9% no opinion

However, inside the party, about 76% of Democrats would be OK with Kamala Harris as their candidate.
