Sen. Joe Manchin confirmed Monday that he will not challenge Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination, saying he “doesn’t need that in my life.”
The longtime West Virginia Democrat, who became an independent this year, denied rumors he would face off against Harris in the November election in an interview with CBS on Monday morning.

“I’m not going to run,” Manchin said. According to CBS correspondent Robert Costa.
“I’m not going to be a presidential candidate… I don’t need that in my life,” he said, calling for a primary contest.
The 76-year-old called on Biden to drop out of the race on Sunday morning, just hours before the 81-year-old announced his withdrawal.
