Trump Sends Support to First Baptist Dallas Community after Devastating Church Fire

“I don’t think my support for President Trump has anything to do with this fire,” he insisted.

Fire investigators met with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the FBI on Saturday to look into the cause of the blaze at the historic 134-year-old church building in downtown Dallas.

Asked whether the fire was suspected to be arson, Dallas Fire-Rescue Interim Chief Justin Ball said Friday night that the cause was unknown because the investigation was continuing.

Ball said the fire “may have started in the basement and spread to the second floor,” where firefighters first responded. At least 100 firefighters responded to the four-alarm blaze.

The church library was in the basement.

“We’re not going to let the flames have the final say,” Jeffries told KTVT. “The truth is, a church isn’t made of wood and bricks and mortar, it’s made of the people in the house of worship.”

The First Baptist Church of Dallas recently completed a Vacation Bible School program that drew 2,000 children and used part of its historic chapel for several events. Jeffries said it was “God’s miraculous protection” that no one was injured when a fire broke out after the VBS program ended.

The old sanctuary of the church was built in 1890. New $130 million worship center It was built in 2013.

“There was a fire at the historic sanctuary. As far as we know, no one was injured. We thank God for His protection. He is sovereign even in the most difficult of times,” Jeffries said.
