A man living in the United States illegally has been accused of kidnapping and attempting to rape his ex-girlfriend after she refused to rekindle their relationship.
On June 23, 37-year-old Rene Cervantes Medina Mexican nationality According to a charging statement obtained by The Blaze News, Cervantes-Medina, who lives in Lehi, Utah, about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City, invited his live-in partner to go to the bank to repay money she owed. But when she got into his car, Cervantes-Medina locked the doors and drove to American Fork Canyon instead of to the bank, the statement said.
“The defendant attempted to pull down her pants, ripping her underwear in the process. The victim told the defendant ‘no’ and continued to cry and scream, so the defendant punched her in the face, causing her to bleed from her nose and lip.”
According to the statement, while driving, Cervantes-Medina told the woman he wanted to get back together, but she refused. Fearing for her life, the woman jumped out of the car, screamed for help and tried to wave to passing motorists to stop her, but the suspect managed to restrain the victim and warned her that if she continued screaming, he would throw her into the canal he was standing next to.
Cervantes-Medina drove the woman further up the mountain road and repeatedly told her he wanted to try again and that he would have sex with her that day “the easy way or the hard way,” according to the indictment. The victim eventually tried to escape again, after which the suspect became more violent, the indictment adds.
The defendant chased the victim, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, where her head hit a rock and she nearly lost consciousness. The defendant then covered the victim’s mouth with his hand for 15-20 seconds, making it difficult for her to breathe. While the victim was on the ground, the defendant attempted to remove her shirt while groping her breasts and vagina.
