Secret Service Chief Kimberly Cheatle Admits There Is No Policy on ‘Sloped Roofs’

Kimberly Cheatle, head of President Joe Biden’s Secret Service, acknowledged during a House Oversight Committee hearing Monday on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump that there is no “sloping roof” policy.

“Does the Secret Service have a written policy on sloped roofs that they can share with us?” Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) asked during Monday’s hearing, to which Cheatle responded, “No.”

“So why did you take that action?” the lawmaker asked, but Biden’s Secret Service director did not respond.

“So the issue with the slope is this,” Fallon continued, “You say it’s dangerous and a safety concern, but the issue, Director, is that we placed the counter sniper on a much steeper roof.”

“These are just pathetic excuses and make no sense,” the congressman argued. “Every law enforcement agency I’ve spoken to in the last nine days is shocked the rooftop was not secured.”

Fallon continued to tell Cheatle: “You should be fired immediately and return to working security at Doritos.”

As reported by Breitbart News, Cheatle said in an interview last week that the decision was made to station local police inside the building rather than on the roof, citing the “safety factors” of having people on a “sloping roof” – where the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, later climbed to the top and shot President Trump.

The director of the Secret Service had received a subpoena for failing to stop a sniper from shooting the president during a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

Cheatle, who was appointed by Biden in August 2022 and reports to impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has faced calls for him to resign but said last week he has no plans to step down.

Notably, it was recently reported that top Secret Service officials have refused President Trump’s requests for increased security over the past two years.
