Rachel Minaya, the wife of longtime MLB executive Omar Minaya, was found dead in her New Jersey home on Saturday, according to a family report.
She was 55 years old.
Suicide has been ruled out as a possible cause of death, according to family members with knowledge of the situation. Omar Minaya was reportedly not at home at the time.
The couple have two sons, Justin and Teddy, who is currently an NBA player playing in the NBA Summer League for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Omar and Rachel met at a Manhattan hair salon in 1989.

Their relationship grew deeper and within a year of meeting, they got engaged on a trip to Italy.
Minaya is well known in Major League Baseball circles, having bounced around the league frequently, particularly in New York, where he served as general manager of the New York Mets from 2004-2010. He then served as special assistant to the Mets’ previous general managers from 2017-2020.
The Yankees recently hired him as a senior advisor to general manager Brian Cashman for 2023.
Minaya also spent time in Montreal, Washington and San Diego, and served as an adviser to Tony Clark, executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association.
