Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle should resign, but it’s concerning that she hasn’t, said Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas), chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Breitbart News Daily The highly anticipated hearing for Cheatle came Monday, more than a week after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
Asked why Cheatle hadn’t resigned, Cloud said: “It’s beyond me.”

“It seems like the only honorable thing to do to serve in that position, I don’t understand. The only other thing I can think of, you know, that’s one of the questionable questions,” he said, “other than wanting the job and, you know, being involved in the investigation in some way and advancing the investigation in some way, why wouldn’t she do that?”

Cloud stressed that Cheatle’s statement that “this should never happen again” was not a sufficient answer in the situation where Trump nearly lost his life.

Mr Cloud also pointed to a worrying report about agents which found they were “spent 25 per cent of their time in training”.
“That has, in my opinion, gone down to less than 7.5 percent,” the councillor said, noting that in the department in question it was less than 2 percent, according to the report.

Cloud also criticized Cheatle for focusing on woke issues.
And the current chief’s approach, you know, was not to hire the best people, but rather to get women to 30 percent of the police force. Of course, in the police force, the standards are different for women and men. Of course, we don’t care as long as they can do their jobs. But if we change the standards to get DEI hires to do their jobs, that’s a zero-fail mission. So, the people who are woke here are becoming dangerous, very dangerous. … We have to resist this.
“When you change standards, you create a disincentive. That’s what’s happening in the military right now,” he added. “Reforming the Secret Service needs to be done.”
