Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned following the assassination attempt on former President Trump at a rally.

Her resignation on Tuesday came a day after a tough hearing on Monday by the House Oversight Committee, in which she was unable or unwilling to answer many key questions from lawmakers and drew calls for her to step down from both Republicans and Democrats.
At the hearing, she accepted responsibility but said she would not consider resigning, telling lawmakers she believed she was the “best person” to be chief at the time.
This comes despite the agency acknowledging to lawmakers that its failure to thwart an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 was the “most significant operational failure” in its “decades” of history.
