Ceedee Lamb not reporting to Cowboys training camp as contract drama continues

CeeDee Lamb will not be with the Cowboys at the start of training camp.

Multiple Reports have Ram He won’t show up to camp on Wednesday after failing to secure a contract extension on par with other receivers in the league, but that’s not much of a surprise to those who have been following the action.

The Dallas Morning News reported. Team officials said Tuesday morning that they did not expect him to join the team until the contract extension was finalized.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports. That same day, Lamb announced he would not be traveling on the team plane to Oxnard, California, where the Cowboys hold their training camp.

Wednesday is the official day to report to the Cowboys’ training camp, and Lamb will be fined $50,000 for each day he misses.

The Cowboys team bus arrived in Oxnard around 7pm Eastern time on Tuesday night.

Lamb is in the final year of his current contract and will make $17.99 million this season.

Lamb will not be attending Wednesday, but two people with knowledge of the situation told The Dallas Morning News he expects a deal to be reached this week to avoid any holds or holdups.

The star wide receiver’s stalemate with the Cowboys has been a hot topic throughout the NFL offseason, and it was exacerbated when the 25-year-old missed voluntary workouts and mandatory minicamp, which led to him being fined more than $100,000.

“Honestly, it’s a business,” Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis told The Morning News about the situation. “You have to look at things from that side and understand it. You have to take care of your family first. I understand what they’re going through. You just have to go out there and be as prepared as you can for when they’re not around or how long they’re not around for.”

Lamb and the Cowboys have been in talks over a new contract in recent weeks but have not come to an agreement that would make him the highest-paid receiver in team history.

Several big-name receivers signed big-money contracts this offseason, including Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Jefferson’s four-year, $140 million contract includes $110 million guaranteed, averaging $35 million per year, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
