DEI Attacks on VP Harris Equivalent to the N-Word

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) said on CNN’s “Newsroom” on Tuesday that Republicans like Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) are essentially using the N-word when they say Vice President Kamala Harris is a DEI hire.

“He’s going to continue to use these racist dog whistles throughout this election,” Frost said. “You’re going to see it from Trump, you’re going to see it from J.D. Vance, you’re going to see it from their surrogates. In fact, one of the surrogates said yesterday that if we don’t win, we’re going to have to have a civil war to get our policies passed — a civil war.”

He continued, “This is an organization. This is a racist, misogynistic, right-wing campaign against the vice president, but we’re going to stand up to the issues. And what’s really important is the fact that she’s qualified. They want to call her the DEI president, the DEI candidate. She has a million times more experience than Trump and J.D. Vance combined. She’s won at the state level. She was attorney general. She was vice president of the United States. She was a senator representing the largest state in the nation. So these are just racist dog whistles. Every time you hear DEI, they want you to think of the N-word. They want you to think of a racist slur. That’s what they really mean.”

“Do you think it’s racist for Senator Burchett to say that?” host Jim Acosta asked.

“I have a good relationship with my congressman, but I think sometimes they say things that are racist, and whether people know it’s racist or not, I’m here to tell them it’s racist, and I hope they don’t make those kinds of comments anymore,” Frost said.
