Protests, Maggots Target Netanyahu During Visit to D.C.

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in Washington, DC on Wednesday ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a special joint session of Parliament, a record-breaking speech that will be Netanyahu’s fourth of his term.

Activists held signs calling on the Biden administration to reduce arms sales to Israel, or, more bluntly, to “liberate Palestine.”

One of the signs was aimed at Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and read: “Kamala, win my vote. Free Palestine.”

others, Anti-Israel activists released maggots and mealworms at the Watergate Hotel, where Prime Minister Netanyahu is staying.
Many Democratic members of Congress have been voicing their intentions for weeks to boycott or disrupt the speech.

Some Democrats are siding with the Palestinians against Israel, while others are following the lead of the Israeli left, who want to oust Netanyahu from power.

Many are unable to explain their opposition to the Israeli prime minister, and some are outraged by his criticism of the policies of Democratic presidents as being soft on Iran (Barack Obama) or soft on terrorism (Joe Biden).

Prime Minister Netanyahu has not criticized the presidents on a personal or political basis.
