A FedEx driver was accused of stealing a French bulldog worth $5,500 while making a delivery in North Carolina. Unfortunately, the dog theft case ended in tragedy.
On July 7, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a stolen dog.

The missing dog’s body was reportedly found on the side of the road in Lillington on July 10.
The sheriff’s office issued an arrest warrant July 11 for Kimani Johon Marshall, 44, of Fayetteville, in connection with the missing dog.
Sheriff’s Office investigators determined Marshall was making a delivery in the area south of U.S. 421 on July 3. Investigators believe Marshall stole a French bulldog when he stopped off.
“Investigators believe K-9 Tori died from heat stroke due to temperatures in the 90s while she was in the FedEx truck,” Sheriff Wayne Cote said. NBC News.
Marshall turned himself in on Monday and was charged with dog theft, possession of stolen property and cruelty to animals. He was transported to the Harnett County Jail and later released on $50,000 bail.
FedEx said Marshall no longer works for the company.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family who lost a beloved pet,” the company said in a statement. “We understand the importance of pets in people’s lives and deeply regret the grief caused by this incident. This driver will no longer be performing services on behalf of FedEx.”
Marshall declined to comment to NBC News about the arrest.
