Vice President Harris did not say when she first learned of President Biden’s intention to seek re-election.

Fox News Digital reached out to Vice President Harris’ office multiple times to ask when she was first informed that Biden would not seek re-election, but did not receive a response.

Biden abruptly dropped out of the presidential race in a written statement on Sunday, but in the days leading up to it, his communications team had been adamant that the president would continue to campaign.

Harris was quickly endorsed by Democrats to succeed Biden in the 2024 presidential election, but it is unclear when exactly she learned she would not be running after weeks of concerns about her eligibility to serve.

After Biden withdrew, it was reported that the president’s plan to forgo reelection was only known to a handful of White House and campaign officials, raising questions about the administration’s communications about the situation.

Biden endorsed Harris shortly after announcing his withdrawal, and the vice president quickly accepted Biden’s endorsement, calling Harris the nominee and visiting the newly renovated campaign headquarters just 24 hours after the president withdrew.
