‘Atmosphere Was Largely Peaceful’ at anti-Netanyahu Events with ‘Some Skirmishes with Police’

During NPR’s “All Things Considered” broadcast on Wednesday, NPR national correspondent Jennifer Radden said that although there were “several skirmishes with police” at an event in Washington, D.C., criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, “the atmosphere was largely peaceful as protesters sought to draw attention to the ongoing violence,” and that the event also featured a “significant number of Jewish protesters.”

“Although there were skirmishes with police and police are alleged to have used pepper spray, the atmosphere was largely peaceful as protesters sought to draw attention to the ongoing violence which they felt they wanted to stop at all costs,” Radden said.

Elsewhere in the segment, Ludden said: [were] Jewish protesters were also visible, including this small group. One poster with Netanyahu’s picture read, in Hebrew, “He is guilty.” One group of Jews gathered for morning prayer, calling for an end to the war and the release of all hostages.

The report also includes several clips of interviews with participants at the event.
