Manhattan Subway Chaos Amid Knicks Parade
Manhattan streets turned chaotic when a frustrated Knicks fan found himself trapped in a subway station by the NYPD, forced to wait for hours before missing out on the NBA title parade.
Thousands of Knicks enthusiasts camped out overnight for prime viewing spots, while millions more flocked to New York City for the parade. However, by dawn, things spiraled when viewing areas hit maximum capacity around 7:30 a.m., leaving many fans stranded, according to reports.
People took to social media to share their dismay. One user reported, “Fulton Station in New York is insanity right now! The NYPD isn’t letting anyone out through most doors. If you come in, you’ll get trapped soon.” The situation seemed dire as more visitors arrived, only to find themselves stuck.
Another user shared a warning: “If I have one piece of advice for New Yorkers, don’t go to Fulton Station. There’s no exit anywhere because all the doors are blocked.” This echoed the sentiments of many, as videos revealed the overwhelming crowd.
One user mentioned the density of the crowd, saying, “There were so many people trying to get to the parade that I couldn’t even exit the subway for nearly 30 minutes,” reflecting the struggle many faced to escape the congestion.
As morning progressed, tensions flared. Another attendee noted that some fans were jumping over barricades or climbing buildings to catch a glimpse of the players. “Everyone’s being wild here. We’ve been out since 6 a.m. and jumped the barricades to get in. Almost fights broke out,” they reported.
Frustration grew as one fan exclaimed in a video, “This is absurd! We waited three hours only to be told it’s over. We’re not going anywhere!” An image captured chaos, with fans voicing their concerns and police intervening in certain instances.
Reports indicated that by 7:30 a.m., the NYPD announced all viewing areas were at capacity. Despite this, footage revealed fans desperately climbing fences to reach the parade, with shouts of “Let me in!” echoing in the air.
As confusion reigned, one fan humorously asked, “Can you open the gate for me?” Their follow-up post just half an hour later simply read, “We’re a mess.”
