Disney had sought to have the lawsuit, which was funded by Elon Musk, dismissed, but a federal court in Los Angeles denied the motion.

Carano filed the lawsuit after being fired from the Disney+ streaming series. The Mandalorian Three years ago, she was arrested for comments she made on social media.

Carano likened the toxic political climate in the United States to the Holocaust, particularly the mainstream media and Hollywood’s demonization of conservatives, leftists and those who express opposing views to liberal ones.

“Hollywood says it supports women’s rights and equality, so why is it that my male co-stars were allowed to speak out without harassment, refresher courses or being fired, yet I am not afforded the same right to exercise freedom of expression?” Carano said in February.

U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett, an appointee of President Joe Biden, rejected the company’s motion that Disney have the right to “separate its artistic message from Ms. Carano’s outspoken ‘political beliefs.'”

“What happened to me was unacceptable, unjust and abusive. It should never have happened to me and should never happen to anyone else. Let’s stop it here,” Carano said on Twitter.

“After three and a half grueling years, I have been given the opportunity to stand in court and vindicate myself before a judge and my peers, and I am very grateful for this opportunity,” she continued.

Carano is being represented by lawyers hired by Elon Musk through his social media platform, X (Twitter).

“I want to sincerely thank and thank @ElonMusk and @X for the opportunity to bring my case to light,” Carano wrote.

Carano was fired The Mandalorian In February 2021, he criticized COVID-19 lockdowns and stated that conservatives were being unfairly persecuted, before retracting the comments.

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors and even their children,” Carano said on social media, referencing the hatred that pompous liberals have for conservatives.

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t understand that to get to a point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made sure their neighbors hated them simply for being Jewish. How is that different from hating someone for their political views?” Carano added.

She later deleted the post, but it still went viral and spread online.

Carano, a former mixed martial artist, The Mandalorian The character, Cara Dune, took down enemies with a combination of heavy weaponry and her own fists, but she also faced backlash on social media for joking about fearful Americans wearing masks around the clock during the COVID-19 pandemic and discussing allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Meanwhile, Rich Schonstein, a partner and litigation lawyer at the law firm Tarter, Krinsky & Drogin, also weighed in on the matter and shared his thoughts.

“It’s clear that her firing was due to social media posts and we’ll likely be able to prove that at trial,” Shonstein said.

“The bigger issue is whether the trial court’s ruling on this law will survive appeal, as it raises fundamental issues about employees’ rights to make public statements that may not be in line with their employer’s position,” he added.
